WE'VE MOVED TO THE PHILIPPINES!...at least for one year. Dave's Utah based company, inContact, decided to open their services to the Philippines (P.I.)....and since Dave served his mission in the P.I. and still remembers the language and customs (after 12 years)...he was the perfect choice to get his company up and going. This is going to be the story of our Grand Adventure!

Hope to learn from...

Isn't Cassie so cute!  Everywhere we go the Filipino's say "Cute dog"....they actually are really into showing their dogs off over here - purse dogs...they dress them up and put shoes on them, I also hear they have dog shows.  So all that worrying about bringing Cassie over was for not...Whew...is that a huge relief!  I have to say Cassie is about the best dog there is....she traveled so well...on the plane we took her out of her carrier and she sat cuddled up in-between Dave and I, never made a peep!  And she has been so good here in the hotel!  She has been my constant companion and with Dave gone so much...she deserves all the potty treats in the world ...hahaha...seriously!

I probably shouldn't write my more negative thoughts about living here, but I imagine I will start to like the P.I. and I think seeing how you've grown is really important....and later I am sure I will laugh at myself! :D

We need to find a condo to rent....obviously one goes out with the realtor, looks around, finds a location and makes a decision.  Well, with Roselle (our realtor) we looked and decided on a tower......but then she kept trying to get us to live in another building.  It was like I went through 4 text messages with her each time telling her where we wanted to live and she kept asking about negotiating on another building.  I can consent to the idea that sometimes you just need to take your realtors advice, but I feel it is very important for me to live by our friends and in a location that feels safe!  Dave explained to me before we came over that everyone is big into networking here, I guess that is how most deals are done.....that is an idea I definitely will have to get used to...anyway, I think that is kinda what she was up to.

I have decided I will go vegetarian while I am here...there are some health benefits to it, but mostly the meat standards are not super regulated.  I think I can do it as long as I have a little shrimp now and again....the 2 times I had it, it was pretty fresh...they just cook them with the head on, so I try not to look at the shrimps eyeballs while I am eating it....ekk!  If only I could live on chocolate muffins, the ones in the hotel are pretty darn good!

There have been 2 taxi rides I will never forget and they both happened in the same day.  I have to give the drivers some props though because you don't see a lot of scratches or dents on the cars.....BUT their driving is insane!!!  On a two lane road there will be four lanes of cars and they honk non stop...they actually honk to change lanes...I am wondering if the cars even come with turn signals?  I was totally terrified on this one we took....it was scarier than any roller coaster I have ever been on and I love amusement park rides...I was holding on to Dave's arm soooo..oo tight with white knuckles - talk about death grip!

Well, that was just a few experiences (mainly my thoughts)....I am sure there will be many more to come!

  1. I can relate to the taxi rides too. I would just close my eyes and hang on. They actually had pieces of hose made into handles on the back of the seats to hang on to.
